Genuinely vintage clothing items?

Whenever you think of a vintage piece of clothing you imagine it being dug up at a flea market or discovered at a thrift shop. How often do you find a clothing item on your favorite fashion guru that's an actual heirloom that has come down from a higher generation? I'd venture to say its pretty uncommon. And yet... I have a jacket of my Dad's that he wore in his times in the Air Force. It's rich, royal blue with the structure of a varsity letterman jacket. It has three red stripes sewn down the arms and the symbol and information of a certain thing my Dad participate in while in the military. It's amazing quality and has lasted through the years. Personally, I think it has a certain air of vintage-ness about it. On the other hand, it could just be weird to incorporate it into an outfit. Why do you think? It defiantly has some sort of sentimental value and story behind it. I can provide a picture if you want.

I think that on a brave day, its always cool to have vintage pieces. over half of my wardrobe is awesome vintage stuff passed down from my gorgeous grandma. I work whatever I can into an outfit. I also have clothes from my great grandma, and I wear those when I can too. I say go for it! its an awesome way to pull history into your day, and you will get asked about it. from what you are saying, try it with some retro styled high waisted black jeans, and a white button down top tucked in. But post a picture!!
