Yes! In fact in my opinion it can be easier. When my hair is straight it slips out of the speck before I have the chance to make the actual bun! You might want your hair a little damp though so it doesn't get too frizzy.

I think that your curly hair will help to give it the volume you just have to comb it first to get rid of the curls, you only want the volume. Then tie all your hair in a ponytail on the top of your head, pass your ponytail through the sock donut. Now just spread it in all 360 around the donut and start twisting around small sections and pinning them with bobby pins till you're done. There are plenty of vids on this :)

I have really curly hair and I find it easier when hair is curly as straight hair just slips out and dosnt stay in place...I use sock buns all the time.
