At the moment I have cheap brushes so I just use an anti bacterial soap, but I want to invest in some nice brushes and I'd like to know what to use so I can buy it along with the brushes to take care of them from the start.

I understand that the brushes you are cleaning with antibacterial soap are cheapies so it isn't a huge deal but once you buy nice/good quality brushes, NEVER use antibacterial soap to clean them. The soap will damage and dry out the brush. Personally I like bare minerals brush shampoo. It works great and isn't tooooo pricey. If you want to effectively clean your brushes without spending money on a product for this specific purpose I highly recommend using extra Virgin olive oil and nuetrogena's anti residue shampoo. First run the brush under Luke warm water to dampen. Then pour a small amount of the olive oil on hand and apply to brush. Massage in well but don't squish the brush ESP if it is a larger one. Then repeat with the shampoo. Swirl around the brush so it works in well. Then rinse under warm water and repeat if necessary. The olive oil conditions the brush and gently cleanses it of bacteria and the nuetrogena shampoo gets rid of the oiliness of the olive oil. Viola! Oh and also one important thing to remember, always keep your brush Angled downward. Any watervthat gets trapped in the base of the brush can be a breeding zone for bacteria (yuck!)
Hope I helped :)
