I haven't tried real tech's buffing brush but I love elf's flat top brush.

I really love the elf flat top powder brush for powder application as well as buffing liquid foundations. I'm not sure which is the real techniques buffing brush, but I've tried the expert face brush to buff liquid foundations on, like I do with the elf bush, and I was completely disappointed in it and had to return it. the elf brush is so much better and more dense.

I have both brushes & love them. The ELF brush is more versatile. I use it more for & just final buffing in of my liquid foundation. Lately I've been reaching for my Real Technique brush more for liquid foundation.

I alternate between using it for liquid foundation and touching it up with powder during the day. I hear some use it for a contour but I think it's too bulky for me. sorry for the late response!
