My straighteners have started to smell like greasy hair when I turn them on!! it's seriously gross!! bit wierd aswell coz I don't really have oily hair and if gets greasy I was it immediately lol, might be my product though.. but anyway, how to clean them? they have a slight build up of crap at the sides of the plates so I think it's probs that, it's pretty hard to get off when they're not turned on and when they are turned on, well I don't wanna burn myself lol- was considering kitchen cleaner but I can't imagen that'd be very good if any residue gets on my hair.. any ideas?

There's at his stuff I buy to take the build up of starch off my iron. I'm not sure of The brand. I know it's called iron cleaner. But I also use it for my straighteners. I purchased it at Walmart

I use a Q-tip around the edges and a slightly damp washcloth to wipe the plates.

I always got a damp warm wash cloth and wiped it off while it was cooling down but still kinda hot. Don't hold it on there though, just like wipe it repeatedly until it comes off. It always gets it off and don't hurt the straightener or my hair.

A baaking soda and water paste is the safest way to clean all your heat tools without damaging or scratching anything.
