A hair stripper is essenctially bleach too, just so you know. what shade of purple are you covering? A light one light kelly osbournes' hair or a dark magenta purple? Because if it's dark like this picture of you: http://www.beautylish.com/f/jxjmsc/love-my-new-lashes-3-?ref=related
A light brown won't cover it, you'll need something that's darker to cover a dark purple, and stick with ones with N and A's on the color- those are neutral and ash, this will help to cover the color without leaving a tint of color underneath. If you want to go a light ashey brown, you will probably have to lighten it to get the color you want- A good lightener is Ion's creme lightener infused with argan oil, this is an oil based bleach so it's not drying on your hair at all and also doesn't need heat whatsoever- it's very fast acting on it's own. Depending on what you want your color to be, will matter which developer you use 10 will deposit more color (for darker colors) all the way up to 40 (for maximum lift of up to the reccommended four shades). And if this is the option you choose, be very careful and constantly watch the color and how llight it gets, it will probably be an ugly shade but you're just trying to put it up a few shades to break up the dark purple for a good even base for the light brown. Also when you do dye it, (or bleach it, anything using this before will seriously help prevent damange big time) I would highly suggest you use a neutral protein filler in your damp hair 20 mins before you color it, this will help to ensure the color is the same root to tip and help the color get deep into your hair, as well as close the cuticle& help reduce damage! You can always go to sallys and they will help you pick out everything you need & want cover the purple. xo

You're welcome, I know color's can be a pain to get out, I had hott pink in my blonde hair for a good four months, and it was a semi perm, it was even in there after bleaching! So I understand!! xoxo

It took me about two months, which is two bleaching processes for me, to break it up- it was a really strong/bright hott pink though and my hair was really light, so it was faded to a baby pink the first bleaching but to get it all out and back to blonde, two months (or bleaching twice) it was in the underneath my hair so it was alright! I'm really thinking after I'm done being blonde though, I'm going to go to rhianna red and then dark, but we shall see, because I don't want to go through the same thing again!
