I flat ironed my hair by myself for The first time in years, and my hair turned out super poofy, like I just blow dried it. Is it suppose to do that or was The iron not just hot enough? My hair looks and feels like hay!

I agree. Try heat protectant. Also, if it is a Conair straightener, I find they do that. Try buying a higher end straightener, here you can adjust the heat temperature.

I did use one, and it started to fry my hair.

It was my cousins own, so I think it might have been one.

You have to let the heat protectant dry first…

I sprayed it, blow dried, then I sprayed it again then flat ironed it.

Oh! Okay

Its better to blow dry it with a round brush and then straighten it.

Oh, yeah I just did it alone.

As someone with 'ethnic' hair, as soon as I get out is the shower I towel dry, put hair
Grease in the ends of my hair and spray a generous amount of nexus heat protector. Blowdry the flat iron or
Curl. Your hair should by totally dry (but well moisturized) when you flat iron to keep from frying. Your iron may not be hot enough-they rarely are at any salons I go to. Just be careful when you test temperatures. Finish with a serum for fly-always
