Like what are the pros and cons of it, (other than the obvious of course) and have you guys noticed a measurable difference if you do or don't have it?

It's not totally necessary I just feel like it completes the look. If you have oily skin or dry skin a setting powder is just going to keep everything from kinda moving all day. Like not saying your foundation is going to completely wipe off it just is more likely to not look as good after a couple hours. A setting powder also is going to help your other powder products apply nicely. If you applied bronzer or powder contour straight after foundation it may look a little muddy. I definitely think setting powder makes a big difference IMO.

I always set my face if I put foundation otherwise it will slip through the day (I have normal skin with a oily T zone) and that way my contour and blush look way smoother! necessity? I would say it depends on the skin type and your personal preference

I feel like there are no real do's or don't of makeup. I honestly do not use setting powder unless I am working with lots of thick or hydrating products. And even then sometimes I don't because I'm so dry. I don't get like a caked or shiny surface to my skin.

Where can I get a setting powder because it does seem to complete most looks? Also where can I get a good trusted foundation?

I always set my foundation because I find I get shiny otherwise. Like the others said, it also makes applying powder products on top of it easier. However, my mum has dry skin and never sets her makeup and her foundation always looks great. She doesn't apply any powder products on top though.

I never did before when my skin was very dry and had no issues with bronzer and blush. but now that I have more oil I need it... it does help with blending products though

I think a setting powder serves a few purposes and it depends on what you feel your skin needs. Here are some of the most common reasons to use a settting powder.
1. To set foundation to add longevity to your makeup.
2. To set your foundation in order to prep it with a non-moist surface so other powder products you apply won't go on patchy and will blend well.
3. To give a poreless, airbrushed finish.
4. To mattify and reduce shine.

I have very dry skin, and don't need powder for reasons #1 and #4. But I do use a settting powder very minimally for reasons #3 and #4.

I suggest going to makeup stores and trying them out. Honestly that's your best bet. Even if you have no plans of buying. It will really depend on your skin type.

It's necessary for me because I have SUPER oily skin! It helps the foundation stay on your face instead of transferring/sliding off when you use your phone, hug someone, etc. The only con I would say is that it costs extra money and adds another step in your routine. It's worth it, imo. <3.

I use a setting powder over whatever base I have on my face (sunscreen, foundation, etc) simply because I want shine in specific areas (where I highlight) and not in others.

I have extremely dry skin. I use a setting powder lightly. I use a lot of cream products in order to get a glowy skin effect. It is helpful to use a light setting powder so the cream products do not roll off or smear easily. It's not in my opinion necessary but I do like using it especially for the summer time.
