I'm going to be getting fake nails but my mom had always told me that they take off your natural nail at the same time. Is this theory true? What is the proper way to remove fake nails?

They can if they aren't taken off properly or happen to break. To remove acrylic nails you can either get them professionally removed at the salon you got them done or soak them in acetone. Soaking them in acetone can get messy & take a while. The acetone literally turns the nail into goo until its completely off your finger.
