Quick Question On Micro Ring Hair Extensions.

So I'm thinking of doing my own hair extensions took a course a few years ago and I swear my brain is like a sieve how far up on head is the highest you can go with the extensions I remember you have to leave some at the back and round the sides otherwise it will show but where do you part hair at the top is it from top of ear to top of ear or higher up. any photos and auggestions would be helpful as this is my 1st time wearing extensions too I have shoulder length hair.
