So I have a gift card for Sephora and I am thinking of maybe investing in a contour palette of some sort, but I am also thinking maybe I shouldn't do that because I have never contoured before so I just want one to start learning and practicing. So should I buy an expensive one? Or should I buy a drug store one since I'm just starting out? Thanks Ladies!!

Try the NYX contour for your first run.. I've heard good things about it. Try it out and get opinions. Then I would invest in the ABH contour palette from Sephora. I have it and it's fabulous! Good luck :)

Neither. a palette for a single persons use is almost always extremely wasteful. you will most likely only use one or two shades anyways so I would suggest finding a good single contour shade. that and the Kat von d and viseart are the only palettes drugstore or high end that I've tried that don't lean way too warm to be a contour instead of a bronzer. palettes are way overhyped for the average consumer. for single shades that can help create a natural shadow rather than a colored streak on your face, check out Ben Nye for creams and inglot for powders for something cheaper and for something at Sephora look into the Mufe hd sticks for a cream or the kevyn aucoin sculpting powder.

I totally agree BUT with that being said, different people use makeup different ways and a palette is the best way to go...

I agree with Aleena, I have the KVD contour palette but I'm giving it away because I never really use it anymore after getting my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder. If you want to invest in a contour powder then get that one, it's the only contour powder you'll ever need. Sephora Collection has a contour powder (I think it's actually under the blush category on the website but it is a contour powder) called Tranquil if you want to get that instead to start out with (:

I agree with the ladies above on the kevyn aucoin sculpting powder, I put off buying it for so long because it's quite pricey but what you get is amazing, it creates a beautiful shadow effect and looks quite natural.

I used a powder first, a drugstore one. It's less settle so if you mess up you can barely tell it's messed up. Then I moved to an more expensive powder contour. Once I became really good with contour I used a drugstore cream contour. And now I use a high end cream contour because I got the hang of it. But it took me nearly a year, so don't rush it.

I do agree with @Grace N I think personally you should start with a powder because they are easier to use then if you wanted to use a cream one you can but personally I don't like cream contour but thats just personal preference. ♡
