Hi everyone,

First to set things in context, I have very oily skin with enlarged pores/acne scars on my cheeks and I live in South-East Asia where the weather is always very hot and humid!

I’ve been going through various blogs and Youtube channels to come-up with a make-up routine and bought both Hourglass mineral veil primer and Estee Lauder Double Wear in Sephora.

I love the textures & finish of both these products but I haven’t really been able to make them work together.
I tried applying the foundation with the Tarte foundation brush or a Beautyblender but I find that it’s very hard to blend the foundation and to get a somewhat natural finish without looking super cakey.

I read that both product are silicone-based so should in theory work together.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hmm I used to always use this combination and never had problems, however everything works different for everyone!
This might be a stupid question, but are you using the beauty blender damp? I always used a pretty damp sponge when applying.

I've never had a problem using those products together either. I apply my foundation with the Sigma F80 (a flat top kabuki) and stipple/tap the foundation on so I get great coverage but it doesn't look cakey.

Thanks ladies, I definitely use the BBC damp but haven't tried with a flat brush yet so let me experiment with that. I read that a little goes a long way with HG primer so will also try to use a little less. These products are supposed to be amazing together for my skin type so really want to make them work. I'm not very experienced with makeup (although in my 30s! so I'm sure it's down to technique!)

Went to Sephora and they didn't have the Sigma brush unfortunately, but the SA recommended the Sephora #45 and it did the trick!! I still get oily though but over the finish is SOOOO much better so thank you!!

Sorry, I didn't think I needed to specify that Sigma was the brand and it's only on the Sigma website! Glad you found something that works for you though (:
