As far as quality and variety of colors, go with Special Effects dye, I find it lasts longer and turns out brighter than anything else I have tried.... and they do have a wide variety of pruples to choose from (or you can mix your own!)

do not use splat. I do hair and it is so hard to get out of your hair when you finally want it out.
