Hi everyone! I'm going to be starting a cosmetology school program next month and I've heard from students that the makeup kit provided isn't great quality/breaks clients out. Do any of you have tips and tricks to slowly build a makeup kit? Do you have any products that I NEED to have in my kit? What kind of storage do you need to hold and transport your entire kit? Thank you for any help! ❤️

Instead of buying single eyeshadows you could just invest in palettes as they often are better value for money than if you were to buy the eyeshadows individually. You could also do the same for blush, buy blush palettes instead of single ones. I don't go to a makeup school or anything but I have seen large makeup cases than come on wheels. I've left a photo below. So you can maybe look at getting one of these or a regular makeup case without the wheels. Hopefully this was of some use, although I am definitely not an expert!

Hollie, thank you so much! I'll definitely have to look into good quality eyeshadow palettes. I love MUG and I want to try Anastasia shadows. Blush palettes are also a must. Those cases are perfect. Thank you so much!

I'd use more theatrical brands. Like Ben Nye has this HD powder foundation for like... $12? I believe and you don't need to buy EVERY shade you could just get every other shade in each undertone and then mix shades if necessary for a client. I think there are sites that sell a lot of theatrical brands which are great quality and reasonable priced

As for eyeshadows and such, I know coastal scents has single eyeshadows and you can make your own palette and I know makeup geek has some inexpensive ones that are often dupes for higher end shades.

But with eyeshadow I think it's better to just have a good primer/base and that will help pretty much any eyeshadow show up and last
