Gloss vs satin vs matte.

So I'm getting a little into lipsticks now and I'm experimenting on the different types. I want to ask you guys your opinions. Which is your favorite, why, and which is your least favorite and why?

I like a more glossy lipstick - I try to love matte but I find them super uncomfortable to wear and when I do wear them I always end up putting a lip gloss over after an hour or 2! I know matte lips are way more trendy at the moment, and that they do last much longer on the lips then a glossy one does - but for me the uncomfortable feeling just isn't worth it!

I prefer matte. I just like the look and feel. I hate gloss. I have no idea why, I just don't like the way it looks on me personally, lol.

I agree with Malik. My personal preference is matte. I just don't like the look of gloss (on me) But although lips are serious chapped after using matte for a full day. But matte is just so pretty imo

I like the look and feel of the matte ones and they tend to be more long wearing. glosses are usually too sticky I don't like the wet feel. sometimes I don't mind a satin or creme finish for a more glam look. but I've found I like matte mettalic liquids even better for adding shine.

Matte or satin definitely but if you have thin lips and you want them to look a little bigger then go for gloss because for some reason those make lips look bigger

I love matte finishes. I will not buy a lippie that doesn't dry matte. Even though my lips get dryer than the Sahara dessert, I love the way matte looks. I don't like the glossy finishes because number one, I don't think the finish suits me well, and number two, my hair always gets stuck to my lips.

Well...satin and matte are my favourite finishes... although matte is not very comfortable...I am not the kind of girl that retouches her lipstick...so its one way road.

I like satin or matte. They're more versatile.

A matte or satin can be sheered down and mixed with a gloss to get a sheer wash of color/gloss but also be used by itself to be more opaque.
With the more glossy ones they tend to look different when you try to matten whether it be by adding a powder on top of blotting with a tissue.
When I blot the more glossy ones it tends to dull the color cause the lipstick sorta comes off quite a bit

I love matte lipsticks because I feel like the color pigments are much more vivid - also it's easier for me to wear a lip gloss over it if I want that look instead to me it's the most versatile kind of finish.

I prefer matte. There are brands of "matte" lipsticks that aren't worth it but I love the matte look. Maybe it's just me but when your lips are matte, I feel like the color is more vivid and that your lips appear fuller. I think the gloss or sheen to other lipsticks take away from the size of your lips and the pigment of the lip color. It's all personal preference and a lot of people like both as do I but I prefer matte.
