I think the ability to tan is genetic. If you've tanned before after a burn, you're most likely to tan again again after this burn. The only thing you can do is try to manage the peeling, if the tan was bad enough for you to peel and extend the tan by moisterizing your skin. There are lotions that are specifically made to extend tans, but I really don't know if they are really better than any other good moisterizing lotion.

Dab on white vinegar or apple cider vinegar before bed. It takes the sting and the redness out. Aloe is great during the day but depending on which moisturizer you use it may make you peel worse. I like coconut oil or cocoa butter to prevent a peel!

If you tend to tan then using aloe Vera and moisturizing like Stephanie said should prevent the peeling and then it should turn into tan. Usually works for me! Good luck!

Moisturise and use aloe Vera! Moisturising will help prevent peeling and then aloe should calm the redness, hopefully the tan should stay after the burn :)
