Curls Are Too Tight

When I curl my hair it often ends up way too tight. I'm afraid to brush them out because I don't want them to get frizzy. What do you guys suggest for looser more romantic curls?

Don't brush them with a regular brush, try brushing your curls through with a wide tooth comb instead(:

When I curl my hair I run my finger threw them, mess them around and I get that natural but romantic look :) like in this picture here

I agree, use a wide tooth comb! Also, perhaps upping the diameter of the curling device you are using. For the loose flowy waves I wear, I use a 1.5 inch diameter or higher :)
