I really hate how to tip of my nose is crooked. I've hated it for years and now that I'm old enough for surgery I'm considering doing something about it. I haven't done my research about plastic surgeons but do know a dermatologist and an ENT very well so I was wondering if could go there for a consult. I'm looking more at a tip surgery because I would like to avoid a full rhinoplasty. I'm looking for advice, tips, and help about this situation.

I highly suggest going to a plastic surgeon. Even if you're just getting the tip done they have much more experience and training in reshaping the nose than a dermatologist or ENT does. Better than safe than sorry, in my opinion.

Go to a plastic surgeon who is board certified in plastic surgery. Many plastic surgeons will say they are board certified, but they may not be board certified in PLASTIC SURGERY. You can be board certified in lots of different specialities other than plastic surgery. I would try to pick a dr. who specializes in facial and nose work. Some plastic surgeons do it all, implants, lipo, tummy tucks, nose, face lifts etc. Personally, I would feel more comfortable with someone who mainly does one area. I've always toyed with the idea of getting my nose done. If I were to do it, my dream dr. would be Dr. Paul Nassif in Beverly Hills.

Marleen, I watch Dr. Nassif on Botched and his work is amazing! That show has really made it very clear to me that when I do get plastic surgery that I need to do a ton of research on doctors and go to an actual plastic surgeon. I remember one episode a lady said her dentist did her rhinoplasty and Dr. Nassif and Dr. Dubrow couldn't believe it.

Alexis, yes, I don't know what they're thinking. Having their gynecologist do their tummy tuck or going to Tijuana for any kind of plastic surgery. It's scary enough to make that decision in the US let alone going to a foreign country for a deal.

Rather than going to a plastic surgeon who specializes in all it would be better if you consult a surgeon who does only facial and nose job. Don't make a rash decision on the surgeon. You have to talk with at least 3 surgeons and then make your final decision. Also, try to talk with their previous patients, so that you will get an idea about the surgeon. I have narrowed my nose a few years back from Dr. Philip Solomon's clinic in Toronto ( http://www.solomonfacialplastic.com/rhinoplasty-toronto/rhinoplasty-surgery.php ). He is specialized only in facial and nose surgery. I would suggest you to look for a surgeon who is specialized in nose job and get your nose corrected.
