I've only used the tarte foundation so I can't comment on the MAC - but I have combo/oily skin and I do like this foundation - although it's not my favorite and I don't find it to be full coverage - it's more medium build able - but it's a creamy formula that feels very lightweight - I can wear it in the summer and it doesn't feel heavy but it lasts the full 12 hours when set with the tarte powder - so I like it.

Personally I didn't like either of those foundations. I originally did like the MAC Studio Fix Fluid because it was my first high end foundation but once I started branching out to other brands I realized how heavy it felt on the skin. The Tarte foundation was too thick for me, definitely not full coverage, and I had a difficult time blending it.
I have normal to oily skin and I love the Estée Lauder Double Wear, I always end up going back to it (;

Define "combination?"
There are different variations by people like normal/dry(some just say "dry" but the formula for dry skin makes the normal areas greasy/oily) , normal/oily (could say oily but a formula for oily skin may dry out the normal parts) or dry/oily.
But overall, the Amazonian Clay one is good if you're combination. Not so much if you're really dry or really oily.
The Studio Fix Fluid is more for normal, combination normal/oily or oily skin.
Texture-wise the Amazonian clay one is a bit thicker... It's kind of like a thick mousse. It's not full coverage, more like a good medium coverage.
This particular one doesn't really build up all that great, it can easily look cakey IMO.
Studio Fix fluid is kind of thick but on me it doesn't feel heavy like the Tarte one.
The studio fix fluid is a medium buildable foundation and I don't feel like it gets me cakey when I add more.
I prefer the studio fix fluid.
I'd get about... 6-8 hour wear (winter) with the Tarte but with the MAC I could get about 8-10 depending on the day/time of year. In the summer it's more like 6-8 hours

I prefer the MAC studio fix fluid. It's full coverage and has a beautiful matte finish. I liked the Tarte Amazonion clay as well just not as much as MAC.

I would agree with Aurora in terms of what types of skin the aforementioned foundations are suited to. Personally, I find the texture and the viscous nature of the Amazonian Clay foundation to be very off-putting; it reminds me of Hunts Snack Pack Pudding. Just my opinion. :)
Both foundations are more on the medium side coverage wise. I don't know why Tarte markets this foundation as full coverage because in my opinion, it clearly isn't. I much prefer the MAC Studio Fix. I've been using this foundation for as long as I can remember being able to get my hands on it, and it is still one of my favorite foundations for my own personal use. The Studio Fix Fluid foundation is easier to apply(Tarte's foundation balls up a bit, so you have to blend it a bit more), and blend. It's a good coverage foundation that will even out skin tone with a minimal amount of product, and you can go back over any 'problem' areas for more coverage. ;)
