I wash my beautyblender before each use (you can do it after too) since it gets so dirty.
brushes: if you wear makeup everyday, I suggest once a week. I don't, so its about once a month for me

I use my beauty blender for sheerer coverage application of most of my foundations. I also use it to further blend when a brush just isn't doing it for whatever reason.
I use baby shampoo to clean my brushes every couple of days (well, every couple days worth of use) and every couple of weeks I'll deep clean with a brush cleaner. I've been trying out different brands and I don't have a favorite yet. I use dual antibacterial on my sponges after every use (or every other use if I'm lazy)

I prefer the Dr. Bronner's Castille bar soap (it does come in liquid as well) I like it because it's natural and gentle. I use it for both my beautyblender and brushes. The bar soap is only $5.

I use baby shampoo on both my beauty blender and my brushes. I'm kinda crazy so I always like my beauty blender to be spotless so I clean it after each use. My brushes I aim for once a week but it usually turns into every two weeks lol.

The powder that yall use that goes under the contour on the cheek bone is it translucent powder or.?

You can use a sponge with any type of makeup. keep it mind it is absorbing the product as it is applying it. so liquid foundations will lose a good amount of coverage with a sponge application compared to a brush. creams work really well with sponges. you want to stipple with a sponge instead of buffing or rubbing it on your skin. I wouldn't use it to blend out say a powder contour or anything like that. using anything wet on top of powder products can end badly. but you can use it to apply setting powder, since your not blending out a color product at that point.

what I'm guessing you're talking about is when you apply a line in your jaw under after a heavy contour. the point of doing that is to highlight the jaw under that cheek hollow and make it pop more. you wouldn't want a translucent powder because it's mostly colorless and won't create a highlight/contrast. you would want a matte highlighting powder.
