Adding Kool Aid to store bought hair dye??

NOT A PICTURE OF ME - JUST THE COLOR!!!

Hey, yall! So, I want to do my hair purple and my natural color is black. Here's the backstory:

I put purple onto the black, but of course, you couldn't see it at all.

My daughter bleached some strands of hair, then put the purple over it, and it came out more of a reddish/violet than purple.

So, I've switched to a different brand - going to try the Vidal Sassoon London Luxe in Deep Velvet Violet which I have seen turn out a beautiful shade of purple on some (like the attached photo), but more reddish on others...

I was thinking of adding some grape Kool Aid packets to the mix, just to try to get it to lean more towards the true grape/purple rather than the red/purple.

Y'all think that'd help??

How light did you bleach your hair? If it's not bleached lightly enough then the color isn't going to come out as vibrant as you want it to regardless of what dye you use.

Definitely don't use kool aid, it's just going to dry out your hair plus it can stain so if/when you try to change your hair from purple you'll have a harder time with it

OK, thanks for the adice, everyone. The receptionist here at my job uses Kool Aid to dye her hair red and it looks good! The color on the box is a color I like, but in Googling I see that it does come out different shades on different people...the first one I did was a dark grape that I bought from a beauty supply store...

Alexis, it was bleached to a light brown - didn't make it all the way to blonde; probably need a stronger developer, but I'd rather not use bleach if at all possible.

Alexis, what shade is your hair? I'd like mine to be maybe 1-2 steps deeper. Yours is clearly purple, though!!

I went to a salon to get my hair done and my hair was bleached almost white to get it that vibrant.

What about food coloring? I actually used white vinegar and blue food coloring to neutralize the brass in my highlighted hair and it worked like a charm. Not sure how long the effect will last but it's lasted through a couple of shampoos so far, so maybe you'd have luck with it, too.
