Do you have to be Licensed?

Can any pros tell me if you HAVE to be licensed to do makeup from home. I've been seeing from some that you do not have to be licensed if you are freelance and work for yourself, and then I've seen that you do have to be licensed to receive any kind of compensation whether you work out of home or in a salon. please help!

I could be wrong but I believe it varies from state to state so I would check the laws for your state.

In Arizona where I went to school they always pushed hard for us to get our license because state board here is so strict. Even if we are licensed here we can't work out of home unless we have all the proper products and supplies and tools. So basically the only way to work from home here is if you have a salon in your home. I remember state board was really scary during school. A lot of people still work out of home anyway here. When they get caught its bad. But a lot never get caught.
