Do You Prefer Matte Or Shimmery Shadows?

For blending? I really like shimmers and frosty looking shadows but my glasses magnify my eyes and it looks kinda cakey :(
I have taken a liking to matte colors but they seem a bit harder to blend. What do you prefer? And what is a good palette of matte shadows or a combo or matte and semi shimmer? Would naked be a good purchase?
