Out of all my piercings, the tongue was the least painful (in mu opinion). Healing process definitely isn't so fun, but overall not too bad! Just have to be careful not to accidentally bite it while it's healing because that hurts haha.

My tongue healed in 1 week time, the piercer told me don't drink anything hot...but I did and the swelling went down really fast, eat with a fork it's much easier and it was hard for me to chew gum the gum always got stuck to the jewellery
the pain wasn't bad it just felt like pressure

I've had my tongue pierced twice, it doesn't hurt :) literally all you'll feel is the clamps and it'll be a little uncomfortable, you might dribble while they're piercing it but I'm sure they'll give you some tissues like my piercer did. It feels strange afterwards because of the jewellery and the swelling but within a week the swelling will start to subside and should be all good. Dairy foods and spicy or hot foods should be avoided in the first couple of weeks as it can prolong the swelling and dairy foods have a higher chance of causing infection. The only thing I could really eat was scrambled eggs for the first few days, it'll feel like you're trying to learn to eat again to be honest haha! I've had no problems with mine though, healing time doesn't take long as it's an oral piercing but a lot of people I've known that have had tongue piercings said it got infected so using a non alcoholic mouthwash every time you eat afterwards is recommended.

And getting a slushee is a good idea for afterwards, that's what I did to help keep the swelling to a minimal.

And I'm sorry I keep commenting lol but please go to a good piercer, sometimes people can't get it pierced because the veins in their tongue don't allow the space, so make sure your piercer checks for that and doesn't just go in to pierce you, that's a huge sign they don't know what they're doing.
