I've been trying to practice contouring and I just can't seem to make it look as everyone else does. How do you do it?

I'm not much into the whole contour craze - but I do find it easy to know your face shape before you start contouring. I have a round face which I find hard to contour (that might be why I never really got much into it) but if you find your face shape you can find charts that show how the best way to contour is :)

I will see if I can find a chart like that for you :)

Now I just googles "contour face shapes" so if these charts are not to your liking you might be able to find some you like better by googling the same :)

But here's a chart that gives some pointers to find your face shape:

Sephora has an app you take a photo of yourself and it shows you where to contour

I pretty much stick with the rule of highlighting where light hits the face and shading where it doesn't. Powder is better if you're just starting out. It's not as strong. Try highlighting the top of your cheekbones and shading underneath them as a start.

You can start with just highlighting only. By highlighting only, it will be creating a contrast & other parts of the face will be slightly darker in comparison creating a subtle contoured look. Sometimes when I'm in a hurry, ill just tap on a matte highlight (a pale yellow) on my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. You can also apply it in the area right above the jawline. Then ill tap on a little shimmery highlight on cheekbones only for a healthy glow & slightly more contrast.

I honestly recommend starting with a powder. I had trouble myself at first but try sucking in your cheeks and finding the line. You may want to use a thin brush to start off if you want to see how it will look or so.
