I've been wanting to experiment more with makeup and I was wondering what your experience is with using a primer before applying foundation?? Does it actually help? What kinds of primers do you use? How should I apply it? Thanks in advanced. 😊

I personally love using primers! My favorite is the Porefessional by Benefit. I squeeze half a dime size amount on my fingers and focus it on my cheeks, chin, & forehead.
Using a primer works (for me). It's now apart of my daily beauty routine so I definitely recommend it!

I have extremely dry skin and I've only felt that green tinted primers help me. I don't find they do much else for me, since I don't have any longevity issues. I use the elf green blurring primer, it counteracts redness in my skin and makes my skin feel velvety, although applying foundation over top diminishes it. I've also used the master prime from I believe Loreal (maybeline?), tarte primers and the laura mercier moisturizing primer, but I like the finish and very green color of the elf one more, plus it's cheaper.
I'm lucky enough that I don't have a lot of skin issues, my biggest are redness and dryness, so primers only really help with the redness, even the most moisturizing primer doesn't do anything if the foundation isn't right for your skin.

Makeup Forever has a lot of different primers for almost every type of skin. Also, Benefit has a great Poreless one. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, Maybelline Instant Pore Eraser is a pretty good one. Also...this sounds crazy but Nivea Men post balm shave helps your makeup last a really long time because one of the main ingredients is glycerin.

Primers are definitely a must. I use the Smashbox foundation primer and it's a bit of a splurge but it's soooo worth it!
