Hi guys! Okay so on Saturday I got my industrial barbell on my right ear since I've been DYING for it for a couple months now. As exciting as it is, I'm a bit worried. My ear is slightly reddish purplish swollen, and the top piercing won't seem to stop bleeding. My piercer told me to use dial soap, but instead I've been cleaning it 2x a day with a warm saline solution. My ear hurts a lot and it feels really hot. I really just want to know if this pain and swelling is normal, and any tips on what I should do to clean it, etc. I neeeeed help :(( thank you all!

Also, I didn't know where to put this in "categories" so I just figured it'd be beauty. Sorry if it's not!

I think you should take it out, as exciting as it might be a infection that close to your head can be very dangerous..

The upper part of the ear cartilage is very sensitive and could cause a lot of bleeding , but if it is swollen it could be infected.

Whatever you do, don't take it out!! If it is infected, taking it out will only trap that infection inside of it when it closes. I'd suggest either going to see your piercer or a doctor.

Since it is such a new piercing, I'd maybe wait a couple more days. When I got my industrial done, I remember it hurting for a long time and being concerned that it was infected, but it ended up being fine.

My piercing is less than 2 days old , maybe this is normal. and my skin is very sensitive so it could be that too.

If you're really that concerned (and I would be too) then go back to your piercer. They'll know what to do and how to properly treat it.

@alexis they said to go back in a month, ill probably just keep cleaning it properly and wait it out.

DO NOT REMOVE IT, if it is infected you can trap the bacteria in the skin. Be sure to continue cleaning the area as it may self repair. With infected piercings I also find using a seeped chamomile tea bag as a hot compress helps them heal as well

I wouldn't remove it, stop using what he's telling you to use and go buy some sea salt, mix it in warm water then put some on the areas. I would also use some polysporin at night time.

I have that issue when I had mine in...I used bactine (I think that's what it was called-and I don't know if it exists anymore).
