I have auburn hair but just wanted to give it a wash of a more reddish tone to make it a bit more vibrant. I don't want to dramatically change the colour just give it a slightly more red tone.
Does anyone have any advice on how to do this? Could I use a dye and do it myself (considering it would be a very minor colour change) or would you suggest going to a professional?

I should probably add the auburn is my natural colour and not dyed.

My hair is ginger and I've been looking into something aswell, I think colour shampoos that deposit a bit of colour are good, just look for a shampoo and conditioner especially for red hair.

Thanks Shaye. Have you seen any shampoo and conditioner made for red hair? I had a brief look when I was at the shops earlier but everything I saw was for blondes and brunettes?

You could dye it with a red henna as well. Since henna coats the hair shaft instead of opening up the cuticle to enter the hair, it deposits less color, and on hair that's already dark it won't be a super drastic change. Just something to look into!

You can use a semi color just to brighten your natural hair color.
