Hey everyone! I was wondering if any of you have tried the new Hourglass foundation stick? It has very positive reviews for the most part, but I can't seem to make it work for the life of me.
It applies beautifully initially - the finish is a nice satin, and the coverage is medium buildable. Yet, after just an hour, it's an absolute mess. It gets oily quickly, and separates and bunches on the skin which emphasizes every dry area, pore, and fine line on my face.
I've tried applying it with my Artis Oval 8, a flat top kabuki, and a beauty blender with no luck. I've also used a variety of product amount (using very little, trying to layer, and applying a lot at once) as well as a few primers (just a moisturizer, the Cover Fx Anti-blemish one, the Hourglass mineral veil).
I think I'm going to return it tomorrow morning, but if any of you have had positive experiences with this foundation, PLEASE let me know how you apply it and what works for you! The shade range is so perfect that it kills me to have to take it back.

I've set it with the RCMA No Color Powder, the Laura Mercier Translucent & Invisible too. I used the Urban Decay All Nighter spray as well. None of them worked.

I went onto Sephora's website to peek at ingredients, and took a quick glance at some of the reviews... I see a lot of reviewers mentioning they were sent the product by Influenster.
Influenster will allow you to test products for free based on social media influence.. I can see why there are so many raving reviews. I'd be pretty happy with free Hourglass products too!
I see a few normal reviews who aren't exactly content, including one reviewer with dry skin who mentions that her foundation got really oily on her!
I would just refund it or exchange it for a different foundation. There's far too many on the market to be putting so much effort into that one!

I had heard that the reviews might be tainted due to free promos, but I guess I really underestimated the extent that these things affect reviews! I like to consider myself reasonably educated about the dishonesty that can sometimes occur online, and I'm most definitely someone who does research to avoid situations like this.
Call me flabbergasted! At any rate, I took your advice Kitty and returned it this morning. What a disappointment :(
