Okay so I have horribly textured skin and ived had it for as long as I can remember , no matter what I've tried its always bumpy. like little bumps under the skin, redness and just roughness. any one have the same problem and found something to help?

my skin: dry, sensitive, acne prone
my routine: I wash my face with cetaphil moisturizing cleanser, and use jojoba oil as a moisturizer with a calming calamine moisturizer on top if I'm feeling extra dry (all the time basically) and spot treat when necessary. this is the best routine for myself I've found but I still struggle with texture issues.
I bought a clarisonic and thought that would help but it didnt at all. I've tried exfoliating more, exfoliating less.
any help is appreciated (:

Sounds like you have rosacea. I've struggled with it my whole life. your best bet is to see a dermatologist. It can't be cured completely but they can help it get better and prevent it from getting worse. because yeah, it can get worse :(

I agree with Gretchen. If possible it's worth finding out if you have rosacea, as this is something that you need to treat as a special case when it comes to skin care. Even well-formulated products can aggravate such a condition if their actives are at a high enough potency, and naturally irritating ingredients will wreak havoc.

That said, chemical exfoliation is the way to go to correct texture, especially in younger skin. You can find very gentle formulations that will gradually help your skin shed dead cells on its own and even out texture. I recommend Paula's Choice to ad nauseam, but they have such a huge range of exfoliating products that unless your skin is a special case, you'll be hard pressed not to find something that works, and their customer service is amazing.

I also recommend looking into daily SPF usage, as sun damage can aggravate sensitive skin, rosacea, dryness, acne; basically anything that can be wrong with your skin. For sensitive types you're better off starting with mineral actives only, in this case Zinc Oxide (which is one of the superior sunscreen agents on the market right now, covering about as much of the UV spectrum as we can at this point) and Titanium Dioxide. Because these agents sit on top of the skin rather than chemically interacting with it, they are virtually free of any irritating properties. Paula's Choice, Alba Botanica, Skinceuticals, and Aveeno all have some mineral-based sunscreens you can check out.
