What's the difference and which one would be best for beginners?:) (I have dry skin)
Thank you!

I have dry skin and absolutely love using creams! It's more natural on my skin type (dry and sensitive). Powders usually work in favor of oily skin.
I think the best for beginners is learning what face shape you have and where you would contour... Contouring is not one size fits all! I have a heart shape face so I contour under my cheek bones and my temples. Having the color down is also very important, you don't need a thousand shades of brown! A cool toned, not warmed toned (think bronzers which are generally warm toned) to create a shadow. Jordan Liberty offers great advice showing why bronzers shouldn't be used for contouring! He offers great advice on this video!

He has several videos where he contours and discusses different products, I really recommend watching him especially if you're just starting to get into make up.

Kitty, what's your favorite cream contour? I have been wanting a new one. I usually use a darker foundation or a custom mixed cream but lately I have been traveling a lot and haven't been wearing any foundation, so both are inconvenient.

And mim I agree with kitty, dry skin doesn't really mix with powders to well so I prefer cream, but it's all up to you!

Thank you so much everyone! I've been looking at the Smashbox trio contour sticks! I've heard so many great things about so I want to give that a try! Alyx you should definitely look into it! :)

Since I am more tan lately, I have been using the Kevyn Aucoin cream to contour in the shade Medium.
I purchased the Kevyn Aucoin the Art of Sculpting + Defining Volume II which includes highlight/contour in both cream and powder formulas.
When I am lighter I often switch between the Kryolan TV Paint stick in FS31 or the Illamasqua creme pigment in 'Hollow'.

I think I'll be picking up an illamasqua creme pigment! It's the only one sold here but I don't want a set like the smash box pencils.
Where do you get kryolan? Is it only online? That stick is basically what I'm looking for but I can't order online right now :(

Thank you for all the help! I always see so many powder contours but nobody really has creams that are not extremely red.

You're welcome ladies!

I purchased Kryolan online. I've seen Kryolan sold in several beauty supply stores! Since you're pale I think you'd enjoy Kryolan or Illamasqua!

I think cream contour works better if you have liquid foundation.

I am new to highlight & contouring. & I have been only using liquid foundation of NAKED. I asked for help on what to use? I'm interested in using Anastasia Contour Cream Kit. Everyone is saying how great it is. But, someone told me to not use it & try out Becca bronze. Should I try out the Anastasia or what do y'all recommend for me being a beginner also.
