OMG, okay I have naturally curly hair..."did" have naturally curly hair. But until about 4 years ago, I had never straightened my hair much, but I've started straightening my hair everyday since then. Well, once I started straightening it almost everyday, all the curl has left my hair, and my hair is now naturally frizzy, thick, and wavy at times. Tbh, I've never curled my hair unless someone else does it for me. For example: Homecoming royalty, Jr. High proms, professional pictures, etc...well I'm getting more into the makeup/hair and I want to curl my hair for school. The times I've tried, my hair just bends instead of curls...and if it does curl, it falls out within about 5 minutes. I just want to know what to do to curl my hair for a causal look for school or even going out. By the way, I don't have a wand. All I have is a regular curling iron with a big rod curler. Any help?!

Curling irons can be kind of tricky girl, I know (: but you can treat it as a wand. Wrap Your hair around the Barrel as you would a wand!(: and you should have beautiful curls

If your hair was once curly it may be damaged from all the heat. that would make it harder to hold a curl either natural or not. You might want to start with skipping heat, some deep conditioning, all the things to get your hair healthy.
other than that, what type of curls are you trying to get and how big is the rod you have? big rods are going to make big, loose curls no matter how tightly you wrap your hair. anything bigger than 1" is generally better for beach waves.
are you using any kind of hairspray after or heat protectant before?
if your curls are coming out how you want at first but then falling flat try pinning them until they cool. just hold the curl at the bottom and lift so that it all spirals together (I'm not sure how to describe that part best) and then pin it and spray with hair spray. when your hair is completely cooled you can take them down and shake them out gently. never try brushing through curls unless you want that frizzy, pin-up model look.

I agree with Aleena.. your hair could very well be extremely damaged from all the heat... you mentioned that your hair was frizzy and that could make curling a little harder as well, have you tried doing a deep conditioning treatment? that is very good for your hair and could possibly bring it back to life after all of the damage. now as for the tool part, I do recommend investing in a wand... they are much easier to use.

When I first started curling my hair I used night curlers then a gel to hold the curls until I finally learned how to curl my hair with a wand but I agree with everyone here, try some hair treatments and avoid heat for a while. But if you do use heat then use a heat protectant
