HI my name is Gaylene and I really see myself in the makeup industry. I live in New York City and I know there is a lot of opportunities here but are all so expensive. I really can't go back to school because I owe Student Loan. Can someone please tell me where I can go to get my certification where it won't break the bank! stay beautiful.

I agree with Hailey; it's better to have no certificate than to have one that doesn't mean anything. I would say start building your portfolio! This will probably mean that you'll have to take on gigs free of charge, so that you can gain some experience and have some photos that you can share with potential employers in the future. Once you have a portfolio built, hopefully it will be easier to find paying gigs, and hopefully by then you will be more financially stable and can look into a makeup artistry program or master classes, because typically the quality you get is definitely related to the price you pay. I'm no MUA, this is just reminiscent of the advice I've seen ladies post on other threads like yours. You can use the search function to try and find the old threads if you want!

Thanks for the advice. I will try freelancing until I can get my certification
