I put this in beauty because I want a mixture of makeup and clothes advice. If it's the wrong category let me know!
I am currently on vacation in San Francisco, and I want to get some USA only items that are not available in Canada. I plan on going to ulta to get at least the tarte ulta exclusive set, but I want to know what other makeup stores and little clothing shops you love.
I do not have my own car here so I need to be able to get there using uber or by using public transportation from around oyster point.
I've heard that jcpenny and the sister stores often have discount older products, I have heard about people finding kvd and too faced items for super cheap and I will be checking out nordstroms (sp?) because we don't have it in Canada and I want to see what it's about lol, but I really want some sf native clothes, small shops and such that are California exclusive to support some local brands but it's hard to find information on that.
I've already been to daiso and to a couple shops near market Street but I know a lot of people on here are from California so I'd love to hear some other opinions or if you have found some gems somewhere :)
Clothes wise I would really love some rompers and dresses that aren't just big box store brands but any indie owned cute stores would be nice to go see.
I leave on Saturday night, so I can't do a ton of shopping in between my plans but I at least want to go to a few stores that we don't have in Canada. :)
Sorry this is rambly, I can't see more than a line that I've typed for some reason.

Check out nordstrom rack. it's nordstroms outlet store. you can find some awesome make up deals there. tj maxx is another good one. Mod cloth is one of my favorite online stores and they have a physical store in San fancisco. You should check that out too.

The closest nordstroms is a nordstroms rack so that's good to hear! I didn't know mod cloth had any physical stores, I've looked online but I'm always weary of buying stuff online that I can't try on first so I haven't checked them out too much. I'll definitely head there thank you!
It's amazing how many stores there are that seem like such huge stores that I've never even heard of in Canada lol.

Kelly do you know the address of modcloth? For some reason the only one my maps will show it says it was a pop up store that is permanently closed now.

Kathleen - there are on the other side of canada, none anywhere even 20 hour drives near me. Plus the prices and selection are much different so it's not at all the same deals

I loooove Nordstrom rack. I found the Too Faced Little Black Book of Bronzers there for $10!! They have a lot of great discontinued high end makeup. Tj Maxx is nice also. I've seen the Anastasia cream contour kit there and a few other random brands however I have also heard things there can be fake so be careful. Also I'm not sure if there are jcpennys in Canada however I wouldn't even waste my time there, lol. If you're talking about the Sephora inside Jc penny then they have only half the stock of what a full sized Sephora has.

We don't have jcpennys, but I've heard and read that people have found some old kvd products and cheap high end brand stuff there. I remember (I don't know what beauty forum) but someone found and posted a haul like a whole kvd and too faced bin and bought like 500$ value for only around 100$ and it was at jcpenny or marshalls I can't remember which lol. But that was a while ago, I don't get to come to the states very often so I haven't had a chance to check since.
I just wanted to say too, I've heard that none of the products at discounts are fake because they buy the old stuff that didn't sell from the old collection that got left in warehouses or they buy the shipping bin that got damaged. At least that's what I was told, that if a shipping container is damaged in any way (like a dent in the side or rain got in) that they sell it at wholesale prices to the stores like nordstroms or jcpennys to inspect (very thoroughly and they can't sell anything that the seal has broken or clearly unsafe) and sell at whatever price they want. I don't 100% know that it's true, but that's what I heard from a shipping company and it seems pretty solid, its how it works with furniture and clothing in Canada so I can see it being true with cosmetics lol.

Ahhh okay thank you! I thought jcpenny was a sister company to tjmaxxx and marshalls lol.
Unfortunately I leave on Saturday afternoon and I really don't have a ton of time to shop so I won't have time to wander around malls, especially since the one I went to on market Street was 3 levels and very spread out so it took me nearly an hour to get to the store I wanted since it's fleet week and dream force it's a bunch of packed people everywhere lol.

Ah okay! That's not the one showing on mine, but it's in a mall so that's promising haha. I'll be checking out a place near it tomorrow anyway so I'll head there :)
Just to update, I went to one nordstroms rack and ulta today and spent 200$ Hahah 😬 but price value at almost 380$ so I'm happy!

I'll be posting a thread when I get home (I leave Saturday but might be Sunday due to jet lag) but I have to leave the hotel at 10, so I'll be shopping till my flight at 230 lol. But already I've gotten several things that I can't wait to try out!
Also, kelly, that isn't a modcloth :( it's a store (I can't remember the name) that used to be the pop up store and now will order from modcloth and let you try it on and they'll sell it if you don't like it. Which is totally awesome but not when you can't wait the few weeks of shipping lol. They had a tiny (maybe 5-10 items) that people had ordered and not liked. Good idea, but unfortunately not a modcloth store lol.
