I've always been a simply eye, but bold lip kinda girl. I've recently wanted to start getting into eyeshadow, but I know nothing. I'm just looking for a palette with simply matte shades, not outrageously expensive (45 and under), just nice for starting out. I prefer company's that don't test on animals. Tips on brushes and other things are appreciated.

Have you looked into the Naked Basics from Urban Decay? One has more warm tones and 2nd is more cool. I think they about $30.00. Tge pallets come with mostly matte colors, tge one highlight color may have a bit of sheen to it.

KVD Shade + Light eye palette. All matte, all gorgeous. They break the palette into 3 sections: cool, warm, neutral and it comes with an insert with some looks to try. Even the cool shades aren't super cool- all the shades are wearable for all skin tones. The shadows are buttery and easy to blend. I highly recommend it. I think it's about 45- the Sephora VIB sale is right around the corner though.
