Hi!

So I really need some help. I've been trying to shorter my makeup products for everyday. A concealer for the under eyes and for spot concealing, a powder, bronzer, highlight, mascara and a setting spray. Everything is working out fine, exept for the powder.

I seem to don't get my hands on the perfect translucent powder that works for the face and for the under eye. I've tried the Too faced prime and poreless powder, the IT cosmetics bye bye pores and the RMS beauty unpowder. These powders work great all over the skin but once I set my under eye concealer with it... Oh boy haha. I apply my concealer, and tried setting it with one of these powders, it seems like my concealer is rubbed of and is almost gone and I am still left with the purple line that is peeking true which I wanted to cover up in the first place! The purple line isn't showing true before I sett it with powder so the concealer I use is just fine. I use the Real Techniques setting brush and dabb the powder on, I am not swiping.

The powder I used for almost 4 years now, cause I always go back to it, is the Ben Nye Neutral set colorless powder. I don't have this problem with this powder and I LOVE it for the undereye. Altho, I tried this for an all over the face powder but it doesn't control oil for my combination skin.
But, I do love the effect it gives on the skin. Verry natural.

Anybody who recommend me some powders that can do both or someone that has the same problem over here? Let's help each other out! :-)

I like to use a tiny tiny bit of the RCMA no color powder to set my under eye and my face :) It need the smallest bit but it sets it all beautifully and keeps my makeup in place all day long :)

Thanks Sabrina! I've heard the Ben Nye neutral set is actually the same thing as the RCMA no color powder. How is the oil control of the RCMA one?

I never tried the Ben Nye one so I unfortunately can't say if its the same! I'm not really oily myself, I have normal to slightly dry, and have to use a very small amount so I don't look dry, so I'm sure it will work great with oily skin.

I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder under my eyes and all over my face and it sets everything perfectly (:

I love the NYX HD Pressed Powder! It's cheap and it made my face look flawless. I used it for my under eyes as well and it was good at preventing creasing for me. I don't have oily skin so I can't say much for that. Good luck 🙂

I'm a die hard fan of the Laura Mercier Brightening Loose Powder for Undereyes. It's light, not drying or powdery (and I have dry skin) and has minute reflecting particles that don't show up on the skin but it adds to the brightening & non drying look. I use this for what it's meant for...undereyes only. It's a small pot. I prefer a pressed powder powder for face to control the amount of powder applied to the face. Like I said , I have dry skin and only use face powder to lightly set my foundation so my bronzer goes on smoothly.

The Ben Nye Neutral Set and the RCMA No Color are not the same thing. They do share 'some' similar ingredients, but the largest difference (s) between the 2 are as follows:

The Ben Nye Neutral Set is a straight talc powder with an antiperspirant added. If you are in a really warm climate or under hot lights, the antiperspirant in this powder really helps the makeup stay in place.

The RCMA No Color is a talc and silica blend, and the mill of this powder is very very very fine- with this powder, depending on how much you use and your skin type, there will be next to no visible powder texture on the skin.

Your question is a little confusing. It also could be me because I haven't had enough coffee yet, but allow me to reiterate what I think you are saying:

You cannot seem to find a more 'universal' powder that will work for both your under eye area and the rest of your skin. The Ben Nye Neutral Set does work for your under eye area, but it does not 'control' oil production on the rest of your face. Is that what you are saying?

If you are looking for a powder to 'control' oil production, in my opinion that is an unrealistic expectation. A powder will help matte down (absorb surface oil on the skin) the foundation and help in terms of keeping the foundation from migrating/moving around on the surface of the skin. A powder will not 'control' oil production. Since you say you have combination skin, your best bet is to look to a primer to help 'control' oil production on the more problematic areas. I love Nurturing Force Blot Out Offensive. This is a very lightweight shine and oil control cream. It's a two fold type of product: Moisturizer for oily skin as well as an oil control primer. I like to take a smidgen and tap it over any oily areas and then apply the makeup product. What's great about this primer is that 'if' you need a touch up, all you have to do is take a tiny amount of the cream and gently tap the product over the area (s) that need it; it will instantly matte the area without disturbing the makeup underneath. As far as I am concerned this product is the best oil control moisturizer/oil control primer on the market today.  :)

Kryolan loose powder is amazing, it's not that pricey and it's been known to be used in films and tv and photographs and stuff, it's amazing stuff.
