I would like to know if it damages your hair cause I've already heard different opinions about it! Please share your experience :)

Very damaging. Anything permanent is.

Well of course it will damage your hair but if you're already straightening your hair daily, it's a much better alternative. Keratin treatments can give you sleek hair and are not too detrimentally damaging but of course, consider your hair type before making any rash decisions. I have three friends that have got multiple permanent straightening treatments done on their hair and they find little damage but do think their hair lacks a lot of volume so if volume is important to you, I would recommend not going that route. (Obviously getting multiple is not a good idea-I'm just giving an example)

I got my hair flat ironed but not permanent. It still damaged mine because some parts don't curl like they used to.

I haven't done it, but I know people who have and they love it for a month but after a while they start to miss their old hair even though the did straighten it sometimes.

It depends on what your going to use, chemical straighten makes your hair fall out, I don't know about keratin though

So, the shape of your hair (level of curly or straight) is determined by proteins inside the hair shaft that are coded genetically. What "perms" do - regardless of whether it's to straighten or to curl - is that they go into the hair and chemically restructure those proteins to match the hair shape desired. After a few months, your body will have produced more proteins that match your original shape that the chemicals haven't affected, which is why your hair will start to go back to normal.
Anything that pulls apart the hair shaft is going to be damaging because it ruffles the top layers of keratin proteins that make up the outer layer of the hair. This causes the hair to look coarser, and less shiny. On the inside of the hair, many people complain that their hair never quite goes back to the way it used to be even after the perm wears off, so be aware that that's a potential consequence.
Many people have permanently straightened/curled their hair and managed to maintain the health of their hair. But it is something that I would do a lot of research on whatever hairstylist you let do it, because you can potentially change your hair for the worse. People have experienced hair loss, dry/brittleness, etc.
My best advice to you would be to try to love the hair you have! But if you're really into straightening it, just make sure you do a lot of research into what stylist is qualified to do chemical treatments in your area, read reviews from past clients, and make look up some ways to keep the hair as healthy as possible before and following the treatment :)
