So this year I want to do some Halloween makeup, like face paints and sfx, I was just wondering if any of you know good products to use?

You can do soo much with just liquid latex and cotton balls. I recently did something just for fun using that, foundation, purple/red eyshadows and zombie blood. I got the liquid latex at walmart for $9 and the blood for $2. (:

Not to sound like a granny but please be very careful when using SFX products. Used improperly they could leave you with some nasty permanent damage.

For a beginner I would suggest sticking with the basics. Water activated paints are a great place to start. Mehron Paradise Paint or Snazzaroo Face Paints are pretty easy to find and are fairly inexpensive. Cream paints are also great. Ben Nye makes amazing cream paints in every color you could ever need. Liquid Latex is also fun to play around with but make sure you spot test before use. MANY people have sensitivities to liquid latex, usually the ammonia in the latex is the culprit and different brands have different levels of ammonia so make sure you spot test with each brand you use. Also make sure you have Isopropyl Myristate on hand for removal. If you don’t, use warm water to break down the latex before removing. Don’t just rip it off.

Scar wax is also a lot of fun to play around with. You’ll need an adhesive to use it and latex to seal in the wax. And once again make sure you have the proper remover before applying. If you use pros-aide, use a pros-aide remover. If you use spirit gum then, you’ll need a spirt gum remover. Personally I’d stick with pros-aide. I always hear people say that spirit gum works with scar wax but it never has for me. And once again make sure you spot test all of the adhesives before using to check for any reaction.

Have fun. ^_^
