Recently, my skin has become very dry. I've tried to fix the problem but it's proving to be difficult so I've decided to accommodate it. I have moderately dry skin, though it fluctuates, I've been wanting to find a primer and setting powder that works well for dry skin. I've found a foundation that's reasonably priced and works well (ish) with my skin (although I'm open to suggestions for ones that work really well with dry skin) so I'm just in need of a primer and setting powder. Any suggestions?

For primer try Bobbi brown vitamin enriched race base. Jeffrey star and tana mongeau always use it. I have it and it's awesome.

Also try Laura Mercier loose powder or the it cosmetics pore minimizing powder.

I personally don't think that a primer is absolutely necessary for dry skin. A good moisturizer should do what a primer for dry skin would do.
I would recommend the Cerave Moisturizing cream.
If you're fixed on a primer then I'd recommend the Smashbox hydrating one.
Primers for dry skin aren't going to make the makeup last much longer IMO since they're more geared toward keeping skin hydrated and moisturized which results in more humectants or emollients to help condition the skin, as such, these types of ingredients won't really prolong your makeup but it'll help prevent patchiness, help the foundation glide on better etc.but again, a good moisturizer should do that.
As far as powder, the RCMA no color powder is pretty good on skin that's on the dry side.

I agree with Aurora, I have really dry skin. And I do use a primer but not to extend my makeup wear. My makeup wears fine without any primer. The reason I use a primer is to hydrate & smooth out my skin texture. And to keep the foundation from sucking out all my skin's moisture throughout the day. I use Smashbox Primer Oil. It adds moisture and it makes my foundation blend like a dream. It also gives the foundation finish a tiny bit of a glow. Using an oil is different and my feel and look weird at first, but when you apply your foundation, you'll see difference in a good way. I use the Nars Crystal Powder in the compact form. I have the loose & the compact but prefer the compact one for everyday because it is so finely milled, it gives the faintest finish on the skin. A lot of people don't like this powder because it seems like the product doesn't transfer onto the brush or puff, but it does. I don't think oily skins or people who want to totally matte out their skin will like it. But for me, its perfect for my dry skin. Because it's not powdery, it's just a thin veil to lightly set and blur out slight shine and pores.

I want to try Smashbox Primer Oil! I have normal to dry and don't usually do primer. I do love to use MAC Strobe Cream under my foundation to make my skin glow. Sometimes I do Becca Backlight Primer because it feels moisturizing and nourishing. I like RCMA No Color powder; I'm just mindful about the application. I use a tiny bit and only in the t-zone and the tiniest bit under my eyes, with a crease brush to set my under eye concealer.

I have the worst dry skin! I recommend starting with skin care! I use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, Moisturizing Lotion (in the winter or when I am having more dryness, I use the Moisturizing Cream; if that isn't cutting it, then I move on to the Renewing Night Time Cream).
Primers: Smashbox Priming Water, Smashbox Primer Oil, Smashbox Hydrating (the blue primer; and this is what I am currently using and really loving), L'Oreal Magic Lumi, Embryolisse Lait Creme (THIS STUFF IS GOLDEN! Sadly though I am allergic to something in it, I broke out into hives! But most have great luck with it, some have breakouts but my skin did not like something in this; don't let that scare you though! )
Powder:
I really enjoy Bare Minerals Mineral Veil and its easy for me to get where I live; but Laura Merciers is nice too!
I actually don't use setting powders though because with the foundation I use, I find it unnecessary. I am currently using Dior Nude Serum and I LOVE it; it gives an extremely natural and skin like. I normally hate foundation but this stuff feels different because I can't even tell that I have anything on. When I run out, I'm going to try the hydrating (I don't know the exact name but its dewy or something) Dior foundation.
