Thoughts on the "Couches de Colour" trend?

So I’ve seen quite a few people talking about Le Métier de Beauté’s video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5xe8bMH_so) and his layering technique and I’m wondering what you guys thought about it?

I get what his point is in layering the cool and warm tone shadows to add some depth but am I the only one that thinks it’s a bit of a waste of product... and time? The end result is very pretty but It seems like you could just use a duo chrome shade and get the same results. Or am I missing something? I feel like this is 'strobing' all over again. Everyone is acting like the wheel is being reinvented and I just don't see it. 😂😂

It started off as the basics then it got extra for no reason the look could had been done at 2 shades.I think it was just to help sell the shadows versus being truthful of the technique. Notice how he pressed the shadow between his fingers and brush which really just takes most of the product off and won't deposit much color to the lid to trick people to believe it all went on smooth & in form because had he not have done that it would have looked like a pile of mush. Lol I agree with you it was to much unnecessary shadows for a basic prismatic shadow look. :) It's a given that we need to understand how to add warmth, cool & layers of colors and get familiar with what they do once intertwined with each other but they took this up a notch that would probably make some extreme frosty eye looks out at the Gram and tube. ;)

That's what I thought. Thanks, Alma. :P

It was interesting to watch but after the 2 first colours, I felt like it was enough. also his attitude put me off lol. it was cool to see the technique he used though

I've got to say... As a linguist, what puzzled me first was the fact that they used all their words in French and then "Colour" in English... so frustrating! It has nothing to do with the technique (which is...something else!) but if he has to pronounce it that way, it should be spelled "couleur". Grr! (haha)

Now realizing how stupid this sounds but oh well, it's out there!

Lol

Ok, Breeze now you've got me curious. Isn't that somewhat common for people who speak multiple languages? For example, my friend is Russian but also fluent in English and sometimes mid sentence she will use one word in Russian and the rest in English without even realizing that she's doing it.

Alma: That's hilarious!

OMG BREEZE I know!! I was sooooo irritated by his awfully mispronounced french. I didnt mention it in my comment thinking that no one would relate hahah
and Kristen yes it is common from my experience (everyone I know speaks at least 2 languages) but in his case he's trying to use words but he definitly doesn't speak french

Wow... I admit that the end result is pretty and the concept is good to balance warm and cool tones, but OMG is he annoying! that wannabe French has always irritated me and so much more when it's by someone who seems to bash on other makeup trend!

You guys crack me up. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought this was just too much nonsense. lol And thanks for explaining, Lara. :)
