using too many matte products? if the foundation is matte you may not need a heavy powder if youre using one, try using a setting spray because it gives a blended finish and will
take away the cakey powdery-ness

I wish I had asked for advice before spending money on foundation that wasn't right for me! Next time I makeup shop I'll actually know what to look for.
My only worry now is being able to match my skin tone. I always pick the wrong color! Maybe I should ask a professional to match me???

After cleansing face use witch hazel on a cotton round. This helps provide a clean surface before makeup application (also many more benefits!) then apply moisturizer and try and let set into skin for 5 to 10mins. Take a blotting tissue and remove excess oil from moisturizer (you will be surprised with all the oil that comes from your moisturizer!) and to balances skins pH use a spray such as fix+ or a mineral water. Let dry. And now you have prep and prime skin for foundation! Also try makeup brushes for foundation and blend well! And if you can use a bb cream daily, this helps skin discoloration which will help with using less foundation & remember over use of foundation can be the cause of a cakey face. Try setting powders with no color or shine-free powders. Don't worry about looking to white that's what contour and bronzing powders are for! Hope this helps ;)

Invest in some skin care specifically for your skin type! For a great foundation I'm currently in love with bareMinerals READY foundation. It's a solid mineral makeup powder in a compact. It gives amazing coverage and still manages to feel feather light! I use a serum & primer 1st then apply it with their Precision Face Brush. I don't even need a finishing powder and its a hydrating mineral formula!

A couple tips that I find help me.
1. Make sure you are using the proper foundation for your skin. If you want a dewy, radiant finish, try Revlon Photo Ready Mousse Foundation or MAC Face & Body. They leave a great finish on your skin but also provide good, buildable coverage
2. Try applying the foundation with a damp beauty blender (or a cheap version of the beauty blender is fine too!)
3. Try using primer. I use an illimunating primer by Victoria's Secret. Its around $15 and it makes your skin look really smooth, even if you have quite a bit of makeup on.
4. To any areas with visible pores, apply the foundation using small circular motions. Rather then just up and down... if that makes sense?
Hope this helps :) xo

i had replied and a couple days ago and just thought of something, definitely take the time to prep your skin. wash your face, use toner, moisturize with an oil free face cream, apply primer and then start putting on your mascara. blend it with a fluffy blending brush and build where you need the most coverage, top it with something like ben nye banana powder to set it, then use a setting spray ;) hope this helps

Instead of trying to cover your scars why not try treating them and healing them. Rose hip seed oil is a miracle treatment for scaring and stretch marks. They help to fade and nourish the damaged skin. To conceal the blemished skin during the day though you can use Laura Mercier secret camouflage.

I've heard that NARS sheer glow foundation is excellent for dry skin as it leaves a dewey, hydrated finish. If you have a sephora near you you ask for a sample of the product and give it a go!

use a wet makeup sponge and buff it into the skin more. Or try using less, or a finishing spray insted of powder. If this doesn't help try using a different foundation. probably more of a liquid one. :) hope this helps

Try using a foundation brush or a makeup sponge to apply your foundation rather than your hands, you will be amazed at the different looks you can achieve depending on the applicator
