How to get over hair cut blues :(

I had to chop off about 8 inches of my hair because it was DESTROYED. It looked awful, felt awful, and was starting to be stretchy and gross. I made the mistake of "ombréing" my hair at home a while back and it fried the ends. I tried EVERYTHING to save it. Coconut oil, expensive masks and shampoos, the whole 9 yards.. It wasn't happening, so I finally decided I needed to just suck it up and cut it and I'm devastated. I hate it! I spent so long growing it out. Anyone have any ideas on how to love my new look!? Any inspiring words?? May purchase some extensions, but I'm not sure yet.

Honestly you look more fresh with your new look. I prefer it to the long locks. Maybe try experimenting with new hairstyles like cute half up half downs?

@Ziar K, thank you so much!! I'll definitely try some new looks. I'm going to try to do a lot of no heat stuff to keep it healthy this time!!

You look beautiful!! Take good care of your hair and it'll grow back in no time! But you might love it once you play with it a little and it'll be sooo much easier to take care of!

Emily, don't be sad. The same story happened to me, I did ombre my hair twice at home and while the first time it was great, the second fried my hair. I had it cut and the hair dresser fcked up and my hair was cut much too short and much shorter than you. That happened at xmas, it's still shorter than you. It honestly sucks big time, but you will see, you will get over it. It motivated my to take care of my hair better. I stopped heat completely, had a shower filter installed and switched to sfs shampoo in the process of trying to save my hair. Now my hair is the softest ever and I'm looking forward to have it long and soft like it never had been since I was a child!!

I think you look beautiful with or without short hair. It's hard now, but in a few short months you'll be glad you got rid of the damage! I'm still trying to talk myself into doing the same.

Thank you @Shelby M! I will definitely take much better care of it this time around!! I'm never touching bleach again!! Haha. @Nathalie C, Awh I'm so sorry that happened!! My hair takes quite a while to grow back I've noticed, but hopefully since I will be taking better care it will speed up the process!! It definitely scared me into taking better care of it!! Thinking I'll probably switch to Organic, all natural shampoo as well!! My hair feels great now that it's cut short, it's so soft and silky! @Jamie L, thank you! It took me SO LONG to finally talk myself into it.. I had been going back and fourth about it for months, and then finally my mom talked me into it!!

I've heard good things about head massaged, they make your hair grow faster

I really like your haircut boo! I recently cut my hair like in Thursday and it is A LOT of hair! And when I woke up the next morning I was MORTIFIED that my hair looked the way it did and when I actually did something with it, then I fell in love with it. But I think your haircut suits you very well! And plus you don't have to wear out your arm when you brush your hair! Lol

I've done tape in extensions for a few months and I absolutely love them. I think your hair is super cute, but it's a good choice if you want to go longer.

Firstly it looks really good so don't worry.
Secondly I completely understand. I chopped 13 inches of perfectly healthy hair (ok maybe 11 cause the ends could of used a trim) and it was really hard and still is. It's really fun to try new things and blow outs are so much easier now so have fun (:

Telling from your photos (hair & shirt), it seems like you do like blue, and that is beautiful.
To be frank, once we ombre or dye any color for our hair, they will hurt our hair in chemical action or biological action, because our hair are protein, and the hurt is irreversible. That is to say, the thing you did to save it. "Coconut oil, expensive masks and shampoos" they won't work.

So my advice is cut off the damged part of your hair and refresh your hair, and do not dye your hair again, use the hair extension instead, that will not hurt our hair.

Thanks so much everyone!! I keep making the mistake of looking through old pictures of my long hair, lol! It was really bad though. The ends were so nasty and dull and the long hair probably didn't really look so good because of them, in person! It's hard to tell from the picture. It looks a lot more healthy and full of life now, so I guess that's good!! I will look into new ways to style my hair, as some of you had said, and try them out!! Hopefully I fall in love with it (fingers crossed). Thank you all for your kind words!!
