Why does foundation cake up? I've been using the tarte amazionan clay foundation and I want to love it but I'm still having trouble with it. I tried using no primer and it works a lot better but my foundation is caking up from my chin and around my nose. I spray the urban decay de slick after everything, do you think that's why? Help please!

I'm using the rt sponge to apply it because I don't like how it applies with the brush. Omg I didn't think about that, can applying to much be the reason that it cakes up?

You're probably applying too much. That's a very thick foundation so you really only need to use a little bit and build up if/when needed. I would also suggest trying a buffing brush to really buff the foundation into the skin rather than it sitting on top.

And sometimes certain fuller coverage foundations can end up looking cakey more easily due to people putting on too much.
You really only need a small amount. If you need more coverage then only apply more where you need it or use a concealer to spot conceal

I recently picked up the new (ish) Sephora Pro collection #66 brush and I surprisingly really love it. The bristles are super dense and very soft. I also wanna ask...are you using your RT sponge wet or dry? If you're not using it wet, I totally suggest it. It'll sheer out those super thick foundation and apply them more flawlessly.

I agree with the previous ladies - I use KVD Lock It Tattoo foundation, which is really thick. When I apply it, I put a single pump on the back of my hand, then dot it all over my face with a finger. Then I use a large head brush in a circular motion all over to work it in. Make sure you moisturize FIRST and wait until your moisturizer is completely soaked into your skin before applying foundation, as well.

Oh okay, I have a brush from morphe and the rt but I definelty have to go pick up another brush soon. I use to use it wet but I found out that it was better to use it dry because of my oily skin. Thank you ladies so much! I can't wait to try it again!
