My cousin has asked me to pick out a 'huge-rock-big type diamond ring' for his fiancee but I don't have the heart to refuse him
The reason why I wanted to refuse is because I don't know ANTHING about diamonds or diamond rings! :( Only that they are beautiful and sparkly and I would also like one lol
If anyone could maybe show me a pic?? Or explain to me the basics of diamonds, I would be soooo grateful on a lesson
pics are greatly appreciated- he has specifically said that he wants a very expensive and 'huge-rock-big' (keep that in mind)
Please do help out...I can not disappoint my cousin it would break his heart...Also because his fiancee is also a close friend of mine so I want the best ;)

Why don't you just ask your cousin to give you ideas and what shape he likes? then you can show the fiancee exactly what he wants.

Omg, he should have someone who knows about diamonds go with him or read up about it. Because there's more to it than the four "C's". Color, cut, clarity & carat weight. There's also ideal dimensions of the "shape" they choose and where on the diamond the flaws are (if any). And if it's certified or not.

Hi Skylar I think you should try to interact more on your threads. You post many threads a day but is very often inactive on them. So we would very much appreciate if you where active on your threads instead of just making new ones.
I would also like to let you know that when you post a thread and do not interact on it, it very easily gets lost in the amount of threads up. Also the users have previously talked about how they won't comment on an inactive thread!

I know he could get someone else to help him but we're really close and he has ALWAYS helped with all my problems that's why I need to pick out the perfect ring...fingers crossed...does anyone actually have a ring that they can show me a pic of...like a very big and unique type maybe? I want it to be just as he described.

My mom sells diamonds and engagement rings and one of her tips is to stay simple and just determine size. Basically a solitaire diamond either round or princess (square) cut because they're timeless and never go out of style while engagement rings with halos (smaller diamonds around the larger in the middle) are trendy at the moment like the top right. Oval shape are very beautiful especially on women with longer fingers (bottom left). With oval shape there is a dark line going across the middle the lighter the line the better the quality but there will always be a dark line even a Tiffany diamond has it lol. Then a unique style would be one like the bottom right but people's style does change and you have to know the person and what they like very well so beware with choosing a style like that. The 4 Cs are the basic to the diamond though. Color being White, black, yellow, chocolate etc. Cut I don't know too much about just know too shallow or deep it won't shine well and some cuts make it shiner. Clarity is how clear the diamond is you don't won't clouds and inclusions making it less sparkly. Carat weight refers to size: with a solitaire diamond 2cts is actually pretty big looking. A 2ct solitaire is also worth more than a cluster of diamonds totaling 2cts. Don't forget shape: round, Princess, oval, emerald, cushion. I suggest checking out Pinterest to get ideas on shape then go you in with some direction.

Omigosh I didn't realize how much I put Lol I hope this helps! If not go into to a store with a knowledgable salesperson and they'll be able to guide you in the right direction. The more you know about the fiancée the better you can two will be find something she will love

Some jewelry stores will allow you to buy the diamond on a simple band & exchange the setting later, allowing the fianc?e to choose the setting. The style of an engagement ring is usually a big deal to most women.
