Sorry if this is in the wrong category, I believe it's style but correct me if I'm wrong :)
I am planning on getting a tattoo of my late grandfather's signature. It's something we used to tease him about since he lost half the letters along the way and it's just very unique. My sister already got hers and mom plans on getting one as well. I'll post a picture of my sister's, its on her collarbone and very large but I was thinking a little smaller.
My only question is, where do I put it and how big? I want it visible to me but something that I can hide. I was thinking about the outer forearm? Would that look weird? Or maybe the inner upper arm? I know I want it on my arms, because I have plans of eventually doing a music themed sleeve and my grandpa was a musician so it fits well.
I am just looking for suggestions, please don't try to talk me out of it and keep any negative thoughts to yourself, I know that I want this and I have thought it over for over two years now and I know I want it and won't regret it.

I think that's such a great tattoo idea! I hate to not answer the question but I'd always hate for you to make such a big decision based on other people's opinion. It's something that's so important to you so everything about it should be what feels right to you! PERSONALLY I like the 2nd or 3rd option best.. but they're all great options. I'll say that the last one would be easiest to hide I'd think! post what it looks like once you do it I'd love to see what you decide on :)

I love the idea of getting a loved ones signature! Personally I like the first 2 the best but it's going to be on your body forever, so get whatever you feel you like the most! Also consider any future tattoo placement ideas on that arm so that they don't clash if you get what I'm saying. Please post a pic when you get it done! I love tattoos.

Sarah - thank you! I love the idea of signature tattoos and my grandfather always got teased for it, he was a carpenter and had such an elegant signature that always got compliments but no one could tell what his name was out of it Haha. I totally get what you mean and I usually hate reading posts like this because I think it's such a personal thing as well lol, I already know what arm (my left) and I know I want it on my arm it's just a matter of what our of two areas on the arm lol. I think they're both really good places but I'm not sure if there's pros or cons to areas or anything, this is my first tattoo and I know no matter where I get it I won't regret it at all :)
Katie - thank you! I said in my first post that I plan to do a music themed sleeve eventually and since my grandpa was a musician it fits with that and I'll be able to blend it in easy with that :)

And I will definitely post pictures when I get it! It won't be probably for a couple months since I'm moving soon, but I'll post pictures of it when it's up and healed :)

That is such a beautiful idea, probably the best tattoo idea I heard of :) I prefer the second or third picture, especially the third one if you are worried about covering it up. Just to throw another idea in there, I think on the inner wrist would look nice as well plus it would be easy to cover with a watch. :)

Thank you Deborah! I thought about the inner wrist but I have plans of another tattoo that will take up both wrists (it's going to be similar idea with my parents hand writing a small note) so as much as I love wrist tattoos I've already planned for mine haha :) I don't feel like I'll need to cover it up, if I ever did I'd probably just use foundation anyways but I want the option to wear a sleeved shirt if I ever need to.

Thank you Llesenia! I love your name by the way!

I really like the third option! I know a girl who did the same thing and got writing from her dad who had passed and got it there, and it looks really good.

Thank you girls!
R T, that's definitely a good placement but it's quite wide vs tall and it would almost have to be sideways (like vertical) if I put it there and I don't know how it'd look

I think to hide if need be inner arm, but it's also close to that artery. aka going back to your heart :)
Mar 12, 2016
Alyx T.
Emily - can you send a picture of where you mean? That sounds really sweet with the artery thing, that's why my sister got it on her chest was to keep him near her heart. So I'd like that idea :)

Alyx- the one she's talking about is the Brachial artery! I couldn't find a single good pic that would show it clearly enough, but if you look it up on Google images you'll be able to see it :)

Kat I just meant where she had pictured the tattoo there. I know where the artery is but I'm not sure where the tattoo would look good :)
