I am vegetarian transitioning to veganism. I am vegan primarily for health reasons, but it seems silly to not eat animals, not wear leather or fur, but still use non vegan beauty products. Right now I am transitioning, so when I finish one product, I replace it with a vegan alternative. I would greatly appreciate any vegan brand recommendations for hair, skin, and make up.

Face Skin Type: Oily, Sensitive, but not acne prone
Cool Skin Tone, Dark (NW47)
Hair: 4a, fine, medium density, dry, but not damaged
Body Skin Type: Very, very, very dry & sensitive

I'm not sure exactly what constitutes vegan, but I am in love with this facial exfoliant by Suki. It's a sugar and lemongrass scrub with other natural ingredients. It smells like heaven, sometimes I want to eat it lol.

Im not sure what qualifies as vegan either but bh cosmetics never tests on animals and their ingredients for everything are listed on the sight :)

Sugarpill as well as 8 Bit Cosmetics has vegan options.

I am having issues with that as well. I can find cruelty free products easily but then I read through the ingredients (which I do for literally everything) it has glycerin or gelatin in it. Sadly most if bath and body works has glycerin.

I want to go cruelty free as well. I'm trying to also "transition". Makeup seems to be easy to do, but I didn't realize all my toiletries are from companies that test on animals =[

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (makers of the amazing Lip Tar!) is Vegan, Urban Decay and Hourglass also have several vegan options! Tip: UD puts a paw mark next to all vegan items they carry in Sephora.

Glamour Doll Eyes, Fyrinnae, Concrete Minerals, and Sugarpill all have vegan options. Tarte also lists a few things as vegan. I'd look on Etsy as well. There is always vegan foundations (liquid or powder) options, as well as primers. UD is now owned by L'Oreal so they're in that gray area. I wouldn't qualify their products as Vegan or Cruelty Free anymore honestly. Too Face has Vegan products as well, but you have to look at the ingredients to find out which ones are. I hope this helps.

I know urban decay and too faced are vegan, their stuff is pretty good.

Hey there...I own a vegan makeup line at www.christopherdrummond.com. All of the items in the line are vegan except the lip stains and the liners, which have beeswax. Everything else is 100% vegan approved! We even have vegan makeup brushes....
and the products are awesome!

Most of LUSH Skin care and beauty is totally vegan! It's amazing, keeps my face clear and under control while being great for the environment!

For Hair I'm going to try:

Aubrey Organics Shampoo in J.A.Y Desert Herb Revitalizing Shampoo, and the Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner. They're under $12.00 each. If I don't find the conditioner moisturizing enough, I'll shea butter and olive oil.

Blue Green Algae Hair Rescue Conditioning Mask 4oz which is under 15.

I looked at Josie Maran, and all the stuff I wanted to try is not vegan :(

--------------------------------

To me vegan means the product was: not tested on animals during any stage of development, did not have a 3rd party test product on animals, does not buy materials from companies known to test on animals, no animal products in the product, not own by a company tests on animals ... the last one is hard for me 'cause there are no foundations in my shade. I know that NARS makes foundation that is vegan, but the their parent company is not

Thanks for all the recs, I'm still going through the recommendations

I use mostly lush for cosmetics and shampoo, most of their products are vegan but are labelled really well. Ren for skin care is amazing their rose serum has transformed my skin and it's all vegan!

lush has a new line of cosmetics that it 100% vegan. I have tried a few of their products, the lip stick is alright but it bleeds of you don't use a liner. their eyeline is awesome as well as their mascara, after half a bottle my lash length and thickness increased by about 50%

Thanks for the recs! I love sugar pill eye shadows! I'm gonna check out lush for mascara cause my mascara is no longer vegan :( ... I'm consider lime crime lip sticks. Most are out there, but there is a pink and a red that I like.

@Yesenia - Yep, you never realize how many things that you end up having that aren't cruelty free! I'm still on the search for fem hygiene (looking for green options too) and a good face cream

BH Cosmetics eyeshadow is not vegan, it has lanolin (sheep sebum, but I bought a palette anyway and it hasn't really been worth it, darn me!) Girl, I don't know if you've tried Wet N Wild but really give them a chance. Before you grab LUSH's mascara, try WNW's MegaPlump Mascara. It's been reformulated, and I figured eh, buy it to use while I find a geniunely good vegan mascara and surprise surprise! It's totally awesome. Also NYX and Jesse's Girl have vegany goodness. I am such a cheapskate ahaha

Lush is awesome, but they don't have that much of cosmetics so I also recommend urban decay

So I went on a major ELF binge. I order online and even with the 50% off promo, it was still over 60 bucks CDN. Even if I end up hating half the stuff, since it's so inexpensive, it will be worth it.

I also ordered lime crime cosmetics. I got the orange lipstick. I plan to use it as a vegan corrector for my hyperpigmentation under my foundation, but if it doesn't work, I'll make lip gloss out of it. I also ordered their eye shadow primer since Urban Decay's eye primer is not vegan.

I am still on the search for vegan foundation, concealer, and powder.

If I'm good, next month I'll get the Sigma vegan brush set, and use my eco tools for kit that I bring to school/work/etc

Oh, I just saw that OCC has foundation/concealer that appears to be close to my shade. Too bad it's not @ Sephora so I can test in person. I guess I'll just take that risk.
