I am realizing that my lipstick collection is seriously lacking. I usually only wear glosses or something like a Revlon lip butter. I want to get out there and try new things but when I go into stores the color selections and brands are just so overwhelming. What do you love and why? Perhaps I can find some things I love as well with everyone's advice. Thanks in advance!

Revlon is great. Look for a color that goes great with your skin tone :)

Nichole, thanks for the in depth post. You gave me a few things to look at. I have a warm/yellow undertone to my skin. I enjoy bright colors and I definitely enjoy things that have a bit of shine to them and are moisturizing. I am going to have to get out to some store and do some swatching and see what I can come up with because pinky nude glosses are so tired that they even make me yawn now! LOL Keep the ideas coming ladies. I am writing them all into a shopping list.

Revlon! I own 26 colors! The original is the best. Black tube with the gold label. I couldn't recommend a color I like them all!

MAC lipsticks without a doubt. But for a less expensive brand, Revlon is great. I have a couple from their matte lipsticks. And I absolutely adore them. I have them in Really Red and Sky Pink.

Loreal Colour Caresse lipsticks are my favorite lipsticks ever!! The formulation is similar to the Revlon Lip Butters, but their pigmentation is much better and the colors range from bright (Pink Vinyl) to wearable, everyday colors (Rose Taffeta, and my personal favorite: Cotton Pink! A dupe for Viva Glam Gaga 2) hope this helps! Xo

I absolutely adore MAC however in saying that if you're new to some bold colours they take some time to get use to apply and perfect. I recommend using a red lipstick that suits your skin tone and overall undertones. On the cheaper side my favourite go to long lasting lipstick is called Super Stay 24 hour colour by Maybelline. They have a wide range of colours to choose from and these suckers last ALL DAY LONG as long as you put it on with a clean dry and I stress clean and dry lip because the product won't adhere on anything else. They are roughly ten dollars and you can place colours on top to mix and match. I use the colour "keep the flame" and I put my Mac lipstick "Russian red" on top. Excellent as a base or alone. Enjoy :)

Also Maybelline has a new line of lipsticks out called Color Whisper which I swatched in CVS and are absolutely beautiful!! Another beautiful, moisturizing lip color. Although, much like Revlon Lip Butters the color payoff varies depending on the shade you get..

For me personally, revlon and rimmel are the best. My all time favourite is vintage pink by rimmel. It's the perfect mauvy-pink! It's toned down so it's too crazy or bright and has the silkiest consistency.

MAC and YSL! YSL is alittle pricey though, and there isn't too many selections like MAC does. Revlon is my only favorite drugstore brand for lipstick.
For MAC, you should try "Girl about town" if you like bright pinks !! Also, if you want a purple/pink lipstick, you should def. try "Rebel" from MAC.

I also like Revlon like many others on here but no one has mentioned wet and wild! they have some really great colors for like $1.99 a piece! my favorite is the dark color in "sugar plum fairy" Also- I know this isn't exactly a "lipstick," but OCC lip tars are fantastic!
