Some lotions can be, especially ones with scents and artifical colors. They can easily clog pores and cause irritation. But there are millions of lotions designed just for use on the face, and those are perfecty fine! :) make sure the face lotion is for your skin type though

Body lotion has more alcohol/fragrance and tends to be more drying. I'd stick with a face lotion
