As my name suggest I am into vegan cosmetics. A lot of nail polishes are not cruelty free/vegan, and a lot of glittery nail polish contain fish. Would it be tacky to bring my own vegan nail polish to a nail salon and ask the tech to use it?

No, many salons are open to people bringing in their own colors. Besides, if it upsets the people doing the nails, you don't know them right? What does it matter?

I bring my own all the time, or I just leave them bare and do it myself at home.

As an Esthetician, I never mind if someone wants to being there own polish! As long as its not all clumpy or hard to work with

At this point, I am never going to a salon again without bringing my own full kit, including lotion. Because frankly, I've observed way too many substandard sanitary practices. There are only 2 states in the US that require by law for equipment to be autoclaved, and UV sterilization is totally inadequate to handle a situation where people have who knows what kind of critters on their hands.

Totally! I do this all the time
