Hi Chrissy .... I am an mua and work with a lot of brides... When I started 3 years ago I wanted to try to do something that would make me different than other artists.... After a lot of research..... I decided on making each of my brides a gift bag..... It's basically some essentials they need on their special day!!! I do always include a Mac gloss or lipstick for touch ups..... In many other cases I recommend products toy clients.... I will purchase the product for them (use all your discounts) then I sell it to my client.... It's works for both the client and u!!!! We all want our clients happy even if some of the demands are outlandish !!!!

My MUA offered me an "oops kit" for my wedding for $15 it included my lipstick and concealer which she put in those contact case things you buy from the drugstore a small tester size of some perfume a few safety pins a piece of chalk 2 band aids and a few breath mints...even though I paid for it and it wasn't "given" to me...I really liked that she offered this little kit...and it came in handy

I give them the lipgloss that I use on them for touch ups. And a few of the brides actually asked me to stay for the wedding so I could redo/ touch up their makeup for the reception. That's always fun :). Of course it costs more to them but they didn't seem to mind.

I'm an artist and do mostly bridal and do provide a touch-up. I buy disposable wands, tiny jars (w/lids), and mini snack bags with a customized lip color I used (scraped lipstick from japonesque palette) and a squeeze in same jar of gloss (i buy tubes for easy dispensing: lancome, bath and body etc). Then if they are oily I give them blotting papers in their baggies. Since I airbrush there isnt a need a touch up color, but you can get powder samples from mark cosmetics. I include this in my fee for each person. I got out of retail cosmetics bc I dont want to sell stuff anymore- including a touch-up for each person.

I tend to include a touch up kit in my fee. This includes blotting sheets and lipstick or gloss. I think it is a nice touch.

I am a freelance makeup artist who mainly works with bridal parties. I was contacted by a bride this weekend, she asked me this...
One last question, I know others offer "touch up" make up like powder that I could use during the evening if my face gets oily/greasy. Do you offer any thing like that?
I have never offered product for my brides free of charge. I always suggest for them to get powder for the day of, but never have I been asked if I GIVE it to them. I think this is ridiculous. Has any other artists offer things like this?

Some artists i know of give lipstick/gloss but not powder or anything for her face. Perhaps you could purchase her super cheap blotting sheets if shes really being a diva, lol. But i have never heard of an artist giving face products

Why dont you just tell her youll sell it to her

Vanessa, why would I sell her something that she can go out and buy herself. I'm not a retail store.

Just politely tell her you don't sell products, but recommend some brands (both high-end and cheap) she could purchase herself if she wants.

I would totally offer to pick up the necessary products, but would need to be reimbursed. If I were to offer a touch up kit my prices would increase!

Hi Chrissy,
Like others stated, when ever I do a bridal party, I usually buy the lipgloss/lipstick I plan on using that day and just give it to them as a little wedding gift. As for powder you can do what the other stated and come up with your own little "oops kit" and charge a little extra. If they dont want to pay for that, just advise them to buy a touch up powder.

I've gotten my makeup many times at Salons and they do give a little pallet type of lip eye and powder for touch ups. I thought that was normal and I would be sad without it

my makeup instructor said its a thoughtful thing to do especially if you are making good $ off the job like doing bridesmaids plus bride. it doesn't have to be full size it could just be sample or a cheaper brand. its the thought that counts ;)

I think the offer of a touch up kit is great but I would definitely charge them for it. it's great for a bride but they should expect to pay for it

I've had my make up done professionally and I would never expect that. I do ask for tips to keep it set.
